Donations
As a charity, The
Provincial Society depends on shop sales, gifts and
donations for its income. We welcome donations from
anyone who would like to support us. Monetary
donations can be made by sending a cheque made
payable to ‘The Provincial Society’ to our
registered office at 30, Wises Court, Mumby Road,
Gosport PO12 1DD. You could make a payment by using a safer, easier
way online with PayPal or using your credit/debit

Gift Aid
In addition, if you
are a UK taxpayer, The Provincial Society can
benefit from Gift Aid as described on the UK
Government’s Direct Gov website as follows:
“When an individual, sole
trader or partnership gives money to a charity
through Gift Aid, then you (i.e. the charity) can
take their donation – which is money they’ve already
paid tax on – and reclaim basic rate tax from HM
Revenue & Customs on its ‘gross’ equivalent – the
amount before tax was deducted. Similar arrangements
are available to those who are higher tax rate
payers. For further information, go to
https://www.gov.uk/donating-to-charity/gift-aid”.

Bequests
As a registered charity neither the society nor your
beneficiaries need pay any inheritance tax on
bequests from your estate. By making a bequest to
The Provincial Society you will help preserve for
future generations the transport heritage of the
Gosport and Fareham Omnibus Company, their
successors operating bus services. You can leave a
sum of money, a proportion of your estate or your
collection of transport items. We recommend that you
consult an expert before drawing up your will but
suggest the following alternative forms of wording
for you to consider:
|
I give the whole (or a percentage share) of
the residue of my estate to The Provincial
Society , Registered Charity No. 1104834 to
be used for its general charitable purposes.
I give free of tax the sum of £________ (in
figures and words) to The Provincial Society
, Registered Charity No. 1104834 to be used
for its general charitable purposes.
I give my collection of transport
memorabilia and ephemera to The Provincial
Society , Registered Charity No. 1104834, to
be retained or disposed of at the discretion
of its trustees in furtherance of the
Charity's general objectives.
(Note
that in such instances it can be helpful to
your Executors and to ensure your intentions
are followed if you list or indicate the
location of the items you wish to bequeath).
In all
instances it is wise to add: The receipt of the Treasurer or other
proper officer of the said Trust shall be a complete discharge to my
Executors. |
